Annie graduated from Scripps College, in Claremont, California, in 1974 with a B.A. in American Studies. She was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She began her business career in Washington, D.C., with an energy regulatory consulting firm. In 1979, she moved to Tosco Corporation, a large oil refiner and Fortune 100 company. During her 20+ years with Tosco, she managed the company’s government relations activities at the federal and state levels (in over 40 states) and became the Vice President of Government Relations, one of two female VP’s. She retired to Maine in late 2001 when Tosco was acquired by Phillips Petroleum Company. While continuing to consult for several years, she has been involved in a number of local non-profit organizations, including the Day’s Ferry Congregation Church, the American Red Cross, the PFL Bookstore and others. Her “research assistant” role in her husband David’s classes on American Literature has made her an enthusiastic supporter of MSC’s mission of fostering life-long learning.
