Ibram X. Kendi’s book of this title, which offers a comprehensive account of our nation’s racial situation and proposes sweeping solutions for racism, has seized the national imagination. This course will evaluate Kendi’s account and the solutions he proposes. What role does Kendi assign to us in the national crusade against racism that he hopes to launch? What do we think of this role? Suggested reading: Ibram X. Kendi, How to Be an Antiracist, ISBN 978-0525509288. Steve Piker is an anthropologist who taught for 44 years at Swarthmore College and did field work in Thailand and the United States.
