12:30-2:30 p.m. 6-week course begins 3/11
Drawing is the basic vocabulary of all the arts. Once you develop the required eye-hand coordination, you have a skill that will never leave you. This course will introduce you to perceptual drawing: drawing what you see, not what you know. We will explore one- and two-point perspective, light and shadow, and contour drawing, among other tools, and the use of various drawing instruments and techniques. Please bring a drawing pad (at least 12” x 16”) and any soft pencils and markers you have to the first class.
After teaching in various colleges in Michigan and New York, Stuart Ross came to Maine in 1970 to teach in the Art Department at Colby College. He has painted, exhibited, and taught in midcoast Maine since, finding ample subjects for his landscapes in Georgetown and Bath, where he lives. MSC.
