Joseph Coté – email: firstname.lastname@example.org
If the last child in the family is named Revenge, then earlier siblings undoubtedly carry the names of Envy, Jealousy, and Resentment. The workings of some or all appear in a wide variety of the plays of the Bard — Tragedies, Histories, and even Comedies. Our readings and discussions will focus on the character backgrounds and build-ups to the acts and results of revenge in a trio of Shakespeare’s plays. Explore the evil machinations of Don John in Much Ado About Nothing, Iago in Othello, and Richard in Richard III. Joseph Coté is a trained Shakespearean actor and has created roles in eleven of the works of the Bard from the comic to the evil. This course follows his successful Autumn 2019 course on “Shakespeare’s Insights and Wisdom on Aging.” Zoom technology plus pre-recorded 30-minute lecture for class viewing prior to the first class.
