Thursdays, 1:00-2:30 p.m.  6-week course begins 5/20

This course traces the roots of anti-Semitism from its biblical origins to 1492 when the Jews were expelled from Spain. We will look at the early Christian writers, at how the Jews fared in Medieval Europe, and at their expulsion from Spain with the uniting of the two kingdoms under Isabella and Ferdinand. A major component will be looking at depictions of Jews in Christian art. Alicia Harding is an adjunct instructor at SMCC. Her degrees are in European Intellectual History. She became interested in this topic as a result of participation in a National Endowment for the Humanities seminar.
