Germs 201: Microbes vs. Man

This course will continue discussing additional diseases caused by microorganisms that have, or have had, a major effect on mankind. In addition, we will explore how man’s social evolution from hunter-gatherer to crop grower and then to megalopolis-dweller have affected the types, prevalence, and severity of microbial diseases. Finally, we will discuss the political, social, economic, and environmental factors influencing the two protagonists in the struggle between microbes and man.

Richard Neiman, MD, is a graduate of Tufts University School of Medicine and a professor emeritus of pathology and laboratory medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine. He has had a close association with MSC, having served for many years on its board, as its president, and as a faculty member.
