Medieval Imagery–Devotion, Didacticism, and Delight?

Description

During the course we will become much better acquainted with the multifarious riches to be found in illuminated manuscripts. We will develop a fuller appreciation of how, why, when, and for whom they were produced and build a more nuanced understanding of medieval imagery drawing on examples from 550 to 1550.

About the Instructor

Born in Ireland, and raised and educated in the UK, Breda White studied, lived, worked, and taught in Spain, Canada, and Bahrain before coming to Maine and a 29-year career at Waynflete School in Portland.
