From a class student: Poundbury England: The Town That Charles Built
Posted : 27/09/2022 10:19 am
This project consciously resists modernity. Is it successful, or does it feel like a film set? The inhabitants love it. But does it ignore the fact of overpopulation and the probable need to stack people on top of each other in high-rises? Is it more or less show-off-y than a Gehry building or early skyscrapers (symbols of the modern era, i.e, ambition, thrust, phallicism, "the new," the rejection of cosiness and humanism generally)?
