Butler Head Afternoon Visit. Arrived at Butler Head Preserve Thursday afternoon, stopping at the visitor kiosk for a trial map and brochure of plants found in the preserve. The list of fauna is pretty extensive, last updated in January 2021. Amazing views of Butler Cover from Whistler Trail. The understory plant life changes as you walk through the preserve. There are more ferns on the bay side along Harlequin Trail. The maple sugaring tap lines in the sugar bush area can be seen along Pintail Trail, which takes you back to the visitor kiosk and lower parking area. I’ve attached a photo of the sugarbush maples.
A few program notes: If planning a visit, Butler Head Preserve is accessible from Butler Head Road, not Butler Cove Road. The paved road connecting with Ridge Road is North Bath Road.
Hi Tom,
Nice photo of the sugarbush. It sounds like you had quite an extensive walk at Butler Head!
