OUR ANNUAL APPEAL KICKS OFF!
This year, Midcoast Senior College turns 25! For 25 years, MSC has brought together talented faculty, creative volunteers, and engaged learners like you. Together, we’ve built a vibrant community of curiosity. None of it would be possible without your support. Tuition and membership fees cover only half of what it takes to keep MSC running. Your donations bridge the gap — ensuring every one of us can keep learning at an affordable cost. As we celebrate 25 years, we invite you to celebrate with us by making a gift. Large or small, your support will help ensure MSC continues to thrive for decades to come.

Retirement plan and IRA required minimum distributions
A Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) is money that must be withdrawn annually from a retirement account when a person reaches a certain age. That money is normally considered taxable income, but RMD is not taxed when it goes toward a charitable nonprofit, like Midcoast Senior College! When you donate your RMD to MSC you simply take the standard deduction plus you get the extra tax benefit.
A financial advisor can walk you through the process of how to exclude the RMD amount from your taxable income through a qualified charitable distribution. (The money must be sent directly from an IRA to a qualified charity by whoever administers your IRA.)
