Orwell in Peace and War
Description
In this course we will discuss the life of George Orwell (1903-1950) and the development of his political views in the middle of his writing career from 1935-1945. We will also share views on the significance of Orwell’s writing for the current state of American politics.

Readings
Required readings: The Road to Wigan Pier (1937), ISBN 978-0156767507; Homage to Catalonia (1938), ISBN 978-0156421171; Animal Farm (1945), ISBN 978-0452284241. The instructor will recommend additional short stories and essays as the class progresses.
