Telehealth: Will It Change Your Healthcare?

Description

Mainers delight in the rural environment of our beautiful state, but few understand the detrimental impact on our health, including higher mortality rates, lower life expectancy, and less resiliency and recovery in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Telehealth/telemedicine is today’s solution to eliminating the time and distance barrier between medical resources and the person in need. We will explore the pros and cons of this change in the healthcare delivery system which puts a physician in your home and further empowers you to take control of your own health.

About the Instructor

Susan Goran worked as a nurse for 48 years including 8 years as the Director of a tele-ICU which provided remote care to 102 ICU patients in 9 Maine hospitals in 13 disparate ICUs. She authored a chapter titled “The  Role of the Nurse in Telemedicine”  and recently published an e-textbook on telemedicine that is currently being used to educate present and future caregivers about the rapidly expanding role of telehealth.
