Maine’s Transforming Economy and Changing
Demographics: Building a Better Future

Maine’s economy is in the midst of a dramatic transformation. This transformation includes new businesses in areas such as biotechnology, aquaculture, renewable energy, food processing, brewing and distilling. These economic developments are reshaping the nature of work, our institutions and the communities in which we live.  The series begins with a presentation by John Dorrer, former Acting Commissioner of the Maine Department of Labor, who will provide an overview of the Maine Transforming Economy as part of MSC’s Winter Wisdom lecture series.
